Sonalysts, Inc. Releases Fuzzy Query Version 1.1 WATERFORD, CT (December 1998) -- Sonalysts, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of Fuzzy Query Version 1.1. The Waterford, CT company has developed this standalone desktop program to allow users to conduct database queries using the semantic power and flexibility of fuzzy logic. Fuzzy Query is a 32-bit MS Windows (Win95, WinNT) application that can be used in conjunction with any ODBC-compliant data source. Fuzzy Query Version 1.1 includes some important improvements in the areas of fuzzy set creation and fuzzy membership calculation. In addition, it provides an architectural stepping-stone to other Fuzzy Query products, such as an add-in for Microsoft Excel, a Web-enabled application, etc. "We believe that the use of fuzzy sets in database queries and data analysis will eventually be commonplace, and we intend to be there when that vision is realized," says Tony Cowden, Manager of the Fuzzy Systems Solutions business unit. "We see that there is a significant gap in the data analysis tools market from traditional SQL-based tools on one end of the spectrum, to knowledge discovery and data mining tools on the other. Fuzzy Query is a true data analysis tool that effectively bridges that gap." Fuzzy Query allows the user to identify the records that best meet the semantic intent of his query. While SQL-based queries act as filters, simply returning records that meet the filter requirements, Fuzzy Query returns the degree to which those requirements were met. This measure alone provides deeper insight into the contents of the data store. Fuzzy Query for Excel sells for $79.00. The ODBC-based, standalone version of Fuzzy Query sells for $295.
